Eating and Sightseeing in Florence
Run, don't walk to Osteria Vini e Vecchi Sapori - Via dei Magazzini, 3/2 just off Piazza della Signoria (tel: 055293045) Go
once and you will return and that is all you need to know. My favorite place in Florence and do tell Giorgio that I sent you. And
remember eating is to be enjoyed and to be savored. Here time stands still as the music makes you smile, the food enchants
and the wine seduces!
Trattoria Le Mossacce - Via del Proconsolo, 55r (tel: 055294361) is another good choice - specialita della cucina Fiorentina!
Ristorante Buca Lapi - Via del Trebbio, 1 (tel: 05521368) is an excellent standby.
Il Latini - Via dei Palchetti, 6r (tel: 055210916) is closed on Monday's. This popular spot has traditional Tuscan decor and is
famous for its quality Chianina meat dishes. (www.illatini.com)
For those romantically inclined, La Loggia - Piazzale Michelangelo, 1 is worth the cost. The location is made in heaven and
judging by the number of Italian lovers that find their way to this piazza, love and desire abounds here!
Museums in Florence
This city is awash in art and some of the world's great art museums. Pre-booking is advisable but the lamentable Italian capacity
for making life difficult for all even exists in Florence! I'm convinced the Town Hall of Florence is a major share holder in Telecom
Italia because the reservation number for most museums in this town is (055294883) and not a toll-free 800 number!! You might
want to have a look at (www.sbas.firenze.it) to get an idea of costs and opening hours. There are many sites out there that
provide museum ticket booking services and a whole lot more. One of the better sites is (www.florenceart.it) but do keep in mind
that you will be paying a surcharge on top of the ticket costs, and sometimes that can be quite a whack.
