Client Testimonials have been asked from time to time by a number of people who have inquired about my services. So with those requests in mind I have pasted below the responses of several clients who wrote on their own account to me to thank me for the time we shared together in Italy. I will change the content as more emails come in. The modern city of Rome has an incredibly rich history, full of events that have come to shape our modern lives in more ways that we may know. However, the history of Rome is often swept to the side, the contexts and details of history are often lost to the spectacle of the famous structures that the Romans came to build. Most tour guides will give you a vague idea of the history behind the sites in Rome, often giving unconnected, easily forgettable, snippets that have no relation to you. However, Peter Kilby is an entirely different kind of guide who defies these preconceived notions and weaves an engaging narrative of Rome's history. As our group visited the visited the many sights of Rome we were enthralled by Peter's knowledge of every area of Rome and the many interconnecting elements that came to together to form the present day state.. Also, Peter was able to engage each of our interests, if you liked architecture he would gear the conversation towards that subject, and overall he was not a guide who just rambles on incoherently but a person who you could talk to and engage your interest. He also has a great knowledge of places that you would not normally find upon the standard road, in fact, he brought us to a small, innocuous enclosure close to the grandiose Roman forums that was a well where the religious figure Peter and Paul were held before there execution. If you truly want to experience the history of Rome, I would highly recommend using Peter. written by John Bugnacki 15 years old. USA - July 2008 Touring Italy with Peter was as enlightening as it was inspirational. He is the guy you wish you had as your Art History professor in school. He describes with depth and passion the history of the things that should not be missed in each city. Given the fact that Italy offers so much and it is impossible to pay attention to everything, Peter is the filter that allowed us to get the most out of the limited time we had on our honeymoon. Not only that but he knows the best of the best places to get a coffee! Mark and Janetta Romans - April, 2008 A GUIDE FOR THE DISABLED Peter Kilby is a wonderful Australian man working as a travel advisor and history guide in Italy. Peter is also an artist and travelphoto journalist and has experience working with the disabled. During our recent trip to Italy we were fortunate enough to have two days with Peter, one in Florence and one in Rome. He planned our day to make the most of our time and was able to show us the amazing and most famous sites of these beautiful cities as well as some of the not so famous sites. No matter where we went, Peter was able to give us an elaborate, but very relevant history of the site, the church, gallery, fountain or bridge. Peter has a sense of humour, incredible patience, in depth knowledge as a guide/historian and is most skilful pushing a wheelchair over the cobblestones, as well as knowing the best route for wheelchairs. I know this because Peter pushed me in a wheelchair on both of our fabulous days together, giving my husband Philip a much deserved rest. Lousie and Philip Snelson - 2007 We celebrated David's 50th birthday by taking a trip to Italy. We had an absolutely wonderful time, and our stays in Rome and Florence would not have been nearly as meaningful or as enjoyable without Peter's knowledge. He made the churches, historical sites, paintings and sculptures come alive for both of us and, under his tutelage, we gained a much deeper understanding of and appreciation for art, the artists, and the times in which they lived. We heartily recommend Peter's guidance and help to anyone considering a trip to the area. We will go back to Italy, and we will again ask Peter to accompany and educate us. David and Donna Thompson - Scottsdale, AZ - USA - September 2007 Peter, It was wonderful meeting you and listening to your stories about Rome -- the antiquities, the middle ages, and today. I would not even conceive of visiting Italy again without calling you first. Your anecdotes were fabulous. I will never forget the last monk of Cappucini and his Bronx cheer for Parliament House. It was magic to move through the streets of Rome, to see the works of Michelangelo and Raphael, without suffering through long waits and crowded lines. Thank you so much, Norb Vonnegut NY - USA - 2007 "On a two week visit to Italy 2004 our family had only one day in Rome. Without a guide, easily half the day would have been wasted determining where sites were, and how to get there. Not to mention that the frustration and anxiety would have detracted from the remaining experience. It was our good fortune to hook up with Peter Kilby who totally eliminated the logistical worries. Within minutes of getting off the train, we were immersed in art, history and culture, and for the rest of the day we moved efficiently from place to place. Thanks to Peter's skill and knowledge we not only saw much more than we would have seen on our own, but we had experiences that we would never had on our own. Peter manages all this with wit, humor and the perspective of an artist. Unless you know Rome or have unlimited time, an investment in Peter Kilby is the best insurance that you will have a great experience." John & Judy Myers - Atlanta, Georgia - USA Experience Rome during the Age of Enlightenment. See Michaelangelo's sculptures up close. Feel like you are walking the cobblestone streets of Italy in the 1400's. Explore past civilizations. Eat lunch where the locals dine. Wind your way through nooks and crannies filled with antiquities. All of Rome's glory can be experienced in a few magnificent days with the powerful, humorous, affectionate sometimes irreverent Aussie, Peter Kilby, raconteur extraordinaire.
